Zath's Album Cafe - The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society
In late 1968, while the rest of the rock world was still trying to find a way to bottle and mass-market the psychedelic success of Sgt. Pepper, the Kinks met modest success with the gently nostalgic The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society, a ironic paean to a lost, pastoral Britain that may never have truly existed. But in time, it would become one of the great cult classics of the Kinks' long career. After the album, DJ Zathras spins an eclectic mix with a heavy dose of classic 60s, both famous and obscure.

What are the issues on Second Life that effect the gay community? Does second life provide a backdrop for increased tolerance or does Second Life mask homophobia with sexual undertones? An example of this would be that it is OK for lesbians to get together on SL for a sexual relationship but perhaps they are not taken seriously as a hetro couple.

Album Cafe - The Original Songs Behind The Cadillac Records Soundtrack
I'll be spinning the original R&B and blues songs from Chess Records that were the basis for those re-recorded by modern artists for the Cadillac Records soundtrack. We'll hear from such Chess artists as Etta James, Bo Didley, and Muddy Waters.

Dancing Liberally - Taking a stand
Sixty-Eight years ago this week, Dutch truck drivers, dock and metal workers, civil servants and factory employees — Christians, Liberals, Social Democrats and Communists--brought commerce in the city of Amsterdam to a halt when they engaged in a general strike protesting their Nazi occupiers treatment of Jews. Two days later the strike was called off: nine people were dead, 50 injured and another 200 arrested, some of whom were to die in the concentration camps. Think about that the next time you make an excuse for shopping at Wal-Mart or stay silent as co-workers or family make racist, sexist or homophobic remarks.
This week we'll discuss the courage of those brave Dutch strikers and the courage we need to find within ourselves as we dance to the music of DJ Rocky. Lindens awarded to those in out fits that best evoke the spirit of the strikers and those who take a stand against oppression anywhere.
