6:00 pm
Billy Bob Gets His Preach On

Does the whole right wing/left wing argument leave you asking, "what about the God wing"? Stop by the Hour of Bein' Good at 6pm SLT on Monday's at the Democrat Donkey Cafe for an hour of no-nonsense sense instead of the pro-nonsense nonsense that everybody else gonna give you. You're gonna hear the truth straight from God's mouth. And lest you think I'm gonna judge you, remember that only God can judge you - I'm just here to tell you what he's gonna say.
God is Love!

7pm
Social inJustice Discussion--Taking it up the Ass or the Art of Apathy
As consumers, are we taking too much from corporations or politicians?  Why is it that people are not rioting in the streets over issues related to the economy and policy making?  Why exactly do the budget cuts we are seeing continue to reflect classism and attack those who can least protect themselves?  Why do we allow this?

6pm
Zath's Album Cafe - The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society

In late 1968, while the rest of the rock world was still trying to find a way to bottle and mass-market the psychedelic success of Sgt. Pepper, the Kinks met modest success with the gently nostalgic The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society, a ironic paean to a lost, pastoral Britain that may never have truly existed.  But in time, it would become one of the great cult classics of the Kinks' long career.  After the album, DJ Zathras spins an eclectic mix with a heavy dose of classic 60s, both famous and obscure.

8pm
The night becomes eKlipetic

6pm
Social inJustice Discussion--GLBT/LGBT Issues on SL
What are the issues on Second Life that effect the gay community?   Does second life provide a backdrop for increased tolerance or does Second Life mask homophobia with sexual undertones?  An example of this would be that it is OK for lesbians to get together on SL for a sexual relationship but perhaps they are not taken seriously as a hetro couple.

7 pm
Mardi Gras at Jane and Rocky's!

We're moving the usual Wednesday night party at the Yak a little north to Rocky and Jane's home on Edloe.  It's all decked out for Mardi Gras, so wear your costumes for prizes!  Rocky will be playing cajun, zydeco, blues and your requests.

If you'd like to host one of these for your favorite album (at the Cafe), let me know.
7:00 pm
Dancing Liberally - Taking a stand
Sixty-Eight years ago this week, Dutch truck drivers, dock and metal workers, civil servants and factory employees — Christians, Liberals, Social Democrats and Communists--brought commerce in the city of Amsterdam to a halt when they engaged in a general strike protesting their Nazi occupiers treatment of Jews. Two days later the strike was called off: nine people were dead, 50 injured and another 200 arrested, some of whom were to die in the concentration camps. Think about that the next time you make an excuse for shopping at Wal-Mart or stay silent as co-workers or family make racist, sexist or homophobic remarks.
This week we'll discuss the courage of those brave Dutch strikers and the courage we need to find within ourselves  as we dance to the music of DJ Rocky. Lindens awarded to those in out fits that best evoke the spirit of the strikers and those who take a stand against oppression anywhere.

Zath's Album Cafe - Johnny Cash, American IV: The Man Comes Around
Near the end of his life and career, Johnny Cash teamed with legendary producer Rick Rubin for the American Recordings series of albums, mixtures of original songs and unexpected covers that constitute some of the most vital work of Cash's long career.  The fourth album in the series, 2002's The Man Comes Around, was the last studio album Cash released prior to his death in 2002, and is worth a listen for his redefining cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" alone.  After the album, DJ Zathras spins an eclectic mix of his favorite covers!

Zath's Album Cafe - Talking Heads, Stop Making Sense
Jonathan Demme's groundbreaking 1984 Talking Heads chronicle, Stop Making Sense, was easily the best concert film since Scorsese's The Last Waltz.  So it should be no surprise that its soundtrack is also an outstanding live album.  Come to the Cafe Wellstone to hear DJ Zathras spin the 1999 remaster from this classic New York punk band.  After the album, Zath will spin more punk, protopunk, post-punk, and punk's far-flung, bastard stepchildren.

Dancing Liberally - Love, Fear, and Loathing: A V-Day and and Anti-V-Day party

There are basically three responses to "Will you be my valentine?" They are: "yes," laughter, "I'm getting a restraining order." For some, V-Day is a time to share one's love with another. For other's it's a great day to listen to the screams of cupids as you blow them away with your .44 Colt Python. No matter your perspective, this is the omly Valentine Party you need to attend. So join us at Jillan's place, The Hetstence Ranch. Muskrats Rocky and Jane will be spinning the best love and slaughering cupid songs, and Lindens will be given to those with the most approriate or inappropriate outfits.
